The Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Hearing web site www.clickonmouse.com Richard Hartman, has close associations with the Deaf community through his family and was asked to 'build' a business referral site specifically for Deaf and Hard of Hearing people on similar lines to 'Clickonmouse'.

What he did not appreciate was the general apathy and in some cases ignorance amongst the businesses, services and professions when building this Directory with many companies complacent, disinterested, or even unaware about the Disability Discrimination Act and the huge consumer base the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community represent. Therefore to identify companies that at the very least welcome this community is a triumph in itself!

Three years research went into developing Deafclicks, which was promoted in November 2000 and has grown at a fast pace over the last few months.

The principals of the company are 'Hearing' but have had tremendous support and encouragement from the major Deaf organisations in the UK together with three consultants from the Deaf community. (Click here for details)

Clickhear was developed to bridge the gap between hearing and profoundly Deaf people.

We found in our research that many Hard of Hearing people do not consider themselves part of the 'Deaf World' and clickhear was created to help this community.

We are proud to have been considered a pioneering company and the first in the World to have launched a 'purpose built' business directory for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community. We hope that others will follow.
